Maintenance of padel rackets with sandy finish

Essential care for padel rackets with rough surfaces

Padel rackets with a sandy finish have taken the market by storm thanks to their excellent ability to generate spin and improve control during play. However, this type of surface requires special attention to preserve its features and extend its lifespan. In this article, we explain how to carry out proper maintenance, the most common mistakes, and the best recommendations to keep your sandy racket as good as new.

Padel rackets with a rough finish are often manufactured by leading brands such as Adidas, Black Crown, or Bullpadel, all betting on innovation and durability in each model. If you're a player aiming for maximum performance and spin in every stroke, this type of racket is ideal for you.

Why do sandy padel rackets require more care?

The sandy finish is achieved by applying a layer of silica sand or similar materials to the surface, creating a rough texture that enhances spin. Although it improves play, this coating is more susceptible to loss of grip due to use, dirt, and external agents. That's why maintenance is essential to ensure the racket retains its original properties.

How to clean a padel racket with a sandy finish?

Frequent cleaning is key to preventing dirt and dust from accumulating on the rough surface. We recommend following these steps:

• Use a soft brush: After every match, use a soft-bristle brush to remove dust and residue from sand or ball fuzz.
• Damp cloth: If there are stains, gently wipe with a cloth slightly dampened with water. Avoid harsh chemicals that can damage the texture.
• Always dry: Ensure the racket is completely dry before storing it, especially in the rough area, to prevent mold or deterioration.

In our selection of padel accessories you will find specific options for cleaning and caring for your equipment, helping to keep it in perfect condition.

How do humidity and sun affect a sandy racket?

One of the main enemies of sandy padel rackets is prolonged exposure to humidity and sunlight. Water can deteriorate the glue fixing the sand to the surface, while the sun can dry out the texture and reduce its grip:

• Store it in a dry place: Use racket bags with thermal protection to avoid damage from temperature or moisture.
• Avoid leaving it in the car: High temperatures can affect the composition of the sandy finish.

Wearing appropriate padel clothing also helps reduce the transfer of sweat and moisture to the racket, contributing to its preservation.

How often should you check the state of the sandy finish?

The frequency of checking depends on the intensity of use and playing conditions. If you're a regular player, inspect the surface after each session. Look for areas where the sand has disappeared or the texture is smooth, as this may affect control and spin on shots.

If you detect premature wear, many brands such as Nox or Siux offer models with reinforced sandy finishes and high-quality materials, designed to last longer.

Can you restore the sandy finish at home?

There are kits and products for restoring the sandy effect, but they require some skill and knowledge. If you lack experience, consult professionals or contact the brand's technical service. At TiendaPadelPoint we can advise you on the best solutions for each type of racket.

What mistakes should you avoid to extend the life of a sandy racket?

Avoiding the most common mistakes is the best guarantee of durability:

• Don't hit against the ground or walls: Impacts can detach the sandy layer.
• Don't use abrasive products: Never use strong detergents or hard scouring pads.
• Don't store in humid places: Humidity is the enemy of any racket, especially sandy ones.
• Don't leave ball or dust residue: Accumulation can reduce the effectiveness of the finish.

Periodically check your racket and complement its care with quality padel shoes, preventing slips and accidental bumps on the ground.

Which brands offer greater durability in sandy rackets?

Brands like Starvie, Vairo, Wilson, or Head are known for the quality of their finishes and resistance to wear. If you want a racket that will last for many seasons, choose these leading brands and always check the latest new arrivals.

Extra tips to maintain your sandy racket's performance

To ensure your sandy racket always performs at its best, follow these additional tips:

• Change the grip regularly: A new grip prevents sweat transfer to the surface.
• Use protective covers: Protect the racket from bumps and dust when not in use.
• Check the frame: Besides the finish, keep the frame free of cracks or dents.
• Consult with experts: At TiendaPadelPoint our team can guide you on personalized care according to your model and brand.

Remember, proper maintenance not only extends your racket's lifespan but also improves your on-court experience and enhances your level of play.
