The best overgrip to avoid sweat on the handle

Types of overgrip and their effectiveness against sweat

The overgrip is a fundamental accessory for any padel player, especially if you want to avoid sweat ruining your grip and performance. Choosing the right overgrip not only improves the feel of the handle but can make a difference in intense matches or in hot and humid conditions.

There are different types of overgrips in the padel accessories category. The most effective against sweat are the so-called dry overgrips, specifically designed to absorb moisture and offer a secure grip throughout the match. These models use porous materials and technologies that repel sweat, while providing a rough or micro-perforated texture that facilitates breathability.

Why does sweat affect grip so much?

Sweaty hands reduce friction between the skin and the racket handle, which can cause slipping and less precision in shots. An anti-slip overgrip helps maintain control, even in extreme situations. Some brands, such as Head or Babolat, have developed overgrips with advanced technologies that maximize absorption and prevent the handle from slipping.

Features to look for in an anti-slip overgrip

• Superior absorption: Look for models that promise high sweat absorption capacity.
• Dry texture: Prefer overgrips with a dry or micro-perforated finish, which facilitate breathability.
• Proper thickness: An intermediate thickness is usually ideal, as it absorbs sweat without losing the feeling of control.
• Durability: Choose recognized brands such as Bullpadel, Wilson or Nox to ensure a long service life.

How to choose the right overgrip to fight sweat?

Selecting the perfect overgrip depends on your preferences and needs. If you tend to sweat a lot, look for options with maximum absorption and dry finishes. Some specialized brands such as DRY GRIP, ELITE GRIP or Gripping Gel have revolutionized the market with specific formulas for players with sweating problems.

When choosing, it is also important to consider whether the overgrip adapts well to your padel racket and your playing style. Professional players often change their overgrip even during matches to always maintain maximum performance.

Tips to maximize the overgrip's duration and effectiveness

• Change it regularly: A saturated overgrip quickly loses its absorption capacity.
• Keep the racket ventilated: After the match, leave your racket in a well-ventilated racket bag, avoiding closed plastic bags.
• Wash your hands before playing: Removing residues and creams improves absorption.

Which brands make the best anti-slip overgrips?

Main sports brands have developed specific lines of overgrips to combat sweat in padel. Standouts include:

• Head: Wide range of dry and fast-absorbing overgrips.
• Babolat: Famous for their Dry Feel technology.
• Bullpadel: Models like Hesacore, ideal for avoiding sweat.
• DRY GRIP and ELITE GRIP: Specialists in anti-slip solutions.

Additionally, brands such as Wilson and Nox offer excellent value for money and a wide variety of finishes.

Is it advisable to use more than one overgrip?

Some players choose to use two overgrips to increase absorption and the thickness of the handle. However, this can alter the playing feel. It is recommended to first try a top-quality overgrip and, if you need more absorption, combine it with products such as anti-slip gels or drying powders.

How to keep the overgrip in optimal condition during matches?

Keeping the overgrip in perfect condition is key to avoiding slips. If you play regularly or in warm environments, change it every few matches. Always carry spares in your racket bag. For the most demanding players, products like DRY GRIP or ELITE GRIP can be applied during the match to keep your hand dry.
