Definitive Guide to Correctly Placing an Overgrip on Your Padel Racket
How to Properly Place an Overgrip on Your Padel Racket: Technique and Tips
The overgrip is an essential accessory for any padel player, as it provides better grip, absorbs sweat, and increases comfort during play. Knowing how to correctly place the overgrip on your racket is fundamental to maintain optimal control and prevent injuries. In this guide, you'll learn the step-by-step process and discover recommendations for maximizing the durability and performance of your overgrip.
Why is a good overgrip important?
The overgrip not only increases comfort and grip but also protects the original Grips-Overgrips Padel of your racket, prolonging its life. Additionally, it lets you customize the handle thickness to fit every player's hand.
What materials do you need to change the overgrip?
Before you start, make sure to have the following:
- A new padel overgrip
- Scissors (optional, to trim excess)
- Time and patience to do it precisely
In the store, you can find products like the Grip Replacement Adidas White to ensure the best result and durability.
How to choose the right overgrip?
Selecting a quality overgrip is key for top performance. Consider factors like thickness, sweat absorption, and texture. In the Grips-Overgrips Padel section, there are options for every player and need.
Step by step: How to put the overgrip on your padel racket
Placing an overgrip might seem easy, but doing it correctly makes a real difference in your game. Follow these steps:
- Remove the previous overgrip: Carefully unwrap the old overgrip so as not to damage the original grip.
- Place the base: Start at the base of the handle, where there's usually adhesive tape. Fix the narrower end of the overgrip.
- Wrap with even tension: Turn the overgrip around the handle, slightly overlapping each turn to avoid gaps. Keep constant tension to prevent wrinkles.
- Finish and secure: At the end, cut any excess material and secure the overgrip with the adhesive tape usually included.
Repeat the process whenever you notice loss of grip or comfort. If you want to renew your racket, models like the Pala Enebe Supra 3K 2024 or the Royal Padel M27 R-Ace Light 2026 Racket offer quality handles ready for your favorite overgrip.
Tips for a professional result
- Avoid too much overlap to prevent excessive handle thickness.
- If you sweat a lot, choose a highly absorbent overgrip and change it more often.
- Align the start and end as much as possible to avoid hand discomfort.
In the Padel Rackets catalog, you'll find different handle types and rackets for every player.
When to change the overgrip and how does it affect your game?
How often you change the overgrip depends on your playing frequency and sweat level. A poor overgrip can cause slipping, blisters, or loss of control. Change it when you notice loss of grip or a rough feel.
Some rackets, like the Pala Nox ML10 Pro Cup Luxury Series Ex or the Pala Softee Oxel, stand out for their handle quality, but the overgrip should always be in optimal condition to make the most of their advantages.
What signs indicate you should change the overgrip?
- Loss of color or stains
- Visible wear and smooth areas
- Lower grip to the touch
- Unpleasant odor
